Urban Sketches
In 2022, some graphic designs came to life and took shape, which I named 'Urban Sketches'. They are very simple and immediate but, in my opinion, still characterized by a distinct and defined personality. In some way, they represent a 'spin off' of the Pop Review activity that took place on my works in 2022.
In this process I also combined the canvases with a simpler support, paper, and used colored markers. Fast expressive action. Vaguely surrealist inspiration. I imagined a world, in an undated future, in which homes reflect the personal characteristics, emotions and moods of their owners or tenants, changing shape and size depending on the emotional situations. The result is pseudo-architectural representations of single or multiple buildings, of urban agglomerations of communities that are outlined 'naked' in a two-dimensional space without perspective references. The US are created both on canvas using acrylic colors and markers and on matt paper. The artistic process, in the second case, passes through two distinct moments: a first creative phase of physical creation of the structure elevation drawn with colored markers and a subsequent phase of digitization and editing which allows the optimization of the aesthetic result and the elaboration of variations on the theme to create distinct sequences/series (collections). |
